Open House by the Society free!
From 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM, there will be an Open House in the restored Butt-Mock House (1906) at the Mountain Life Museum Center. The house has been restored, and is in the process of being furnished in "Early TVA" style, or how a typical upper-level life-style home would have been furnished in the early 1940's, That would be the tine when electricity came to the area.
Included in the Open House will be the Payne Cabin (1861) which represents Union County life in the mid-1800's, the farmstead which represents out-buildings most local farmers had in the 1800s. Currently, it's a blacksmith shop, corn crib, barn, and spring house.
Complimentary refreshments will be served. Enjoy cookies, cakes and drinks! All of the exhibits at The Old Courthouse will be open during the day.
