Note the lines for writing scales.
The Shape Note Singing Convention presented by the Union Country Historical Society and the Union County Singing Convention will be held on POSTPONED in the Old Courthouse on the Square in Blairsville.
Also, at that time presentations of awards for Pioneers of Shaped-note singing will take place. Not too late to nominate someone.
The criteria for nominations is simple. The nominee must have contributed significantly to the development and/or preservation of shaped-note music in Union County. This could be done through writing songs, establishing or teaching singing schools, promoting singing conventions, recording shaped-note music, etc.
Nominations should include biographical information about the person(s) being nominated. Most important is explaining what the nominee has done in the interest of shaped-note music in Union County. At least one picture (which will be returned) of each nominee is necessary.
Nominations can be delivered in person to the Old Courthouse on the Square, mailed to the Historicial Society at P.O. Box 35, Blairsville, GA 30514, or emailed to history1@windstream.net.
